La petite maison dans la prairie : il y a un jardin, de l’espace et la nature

Ce que vos invités vont adorer chez vous
Homey residence on Canadian border with large sunny kitchen and back deck overlooking the St. John River. I will be receiving guests during the summer months of June, July, August 2016.
Ce que vos invités vont adorer dans votre quartier

My home, which is on one of the oldest roads in the United States, is located very close to a safe, friendly little town park with a playground, a picnic area, and a great track for walking/jogging. At 172 years old, St. Luce - nearby - is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Maine. Though I do not speak it myself, French is spoken fluently here.

The forest, of many different types of trees and hiking/ATV trails up into the hills, begins across the street from my home. You may see black bears, moose, coyotes, foxes, or deer - I have. At the top, there is a great view of the St. John River and Canada (see photo).

A number of restaurants in the area include the Lake View, overlooking Long Lake. There, you can enjoy our famous Maine lobster to which no other in the world can compare. Canoe or kayak down the St. John River, or swim and enjoy the beach at Long Lake - only 12 minutes from my home. The border crossing for shopping in New Brunswick is a 15 minute drive from my home, and from there it is not too far to go to the Botanical Gardens or on a whale watch in Quebec. Or . . . you can just hang out here at the house with me and watch the river go by.

Le mot de la fin
For those who enjoy live entertainment, there are some very good local bands. There is also an organic co-op in the town of Fort Kent - a twenty minute drive from my home. The super market also has a good selection of organic foods. The outdoor photos, including all of the animals, were taken on my property. The photo of the tree swallow feeding her baby was taken on my deck. They come every spring to build their nest and have their babies in my old bluebird box. The photos that appear after the one of the fox were taken around the area. The last two photos show the potato plants with their beautiful white blossoms. They will be ready for harvest in September. Maine is one of the major suppliers of potatoes in the U.S. The photos were taken very close to my home. FYI, there is a "no shoes" policy in the house.
