Ce que vos invités vont adorer chez vous
The Main House: The antique farmhouse remains virtually unchanged to this day. The main 3-bedroom part of the house is an altered Salt Box design, with four large rooms on each of the two floors. There is a very antique kitchen, dining room with wood stove, living room with fireplace, mudroom (not yet renovated) and screen porch all on the first floor. The second floor has a newly renovated bathroom, master bedroom with king bed, another master bedroom with double bed and portable mattress, a 3rd bedroom with a double bed. The second floor also has a sun-porch/art room that could also have a mattress in it if needed. The larger bedrooms have lots of floor space. The main part of the house still has original glass panes and door hardware throughout. The unfinished basement has a washer and dryer. The larger 3-bedroom section of the house is available every other week for last minute exchanges. The oven in the main kitchen is shared with Suzanne when she needs to bake, which is not very often. :-) The Barn: A working three story barn is used for housing the farm equipment and provides community meeting space as well. We have had many weddings here - the closeness to Boston is ideal, and the property beautiful year-round. It is possible, for added adventure, to sleep in the barn in what we call “The Dress Up Room” which is a great place for the young at heart to play! Suzanne’s Apartment: The second part of the house is a small 2-bedroom apartment, with a bath, kitchenette (no oven), dining room, and living room with a wood stove and beautiful bay windows. The apartment is not always available - it depends on if we are ALL traveling together or not. Extras: My 2014 Ford Escape is available for exchange as well. There are 5 bikes of various adult to medium sizes to choose from. We also have a canoe and two kayaks if you’d like paddle on the Charles River or any of the numerous lakes in the region, but honestly... it is easier to just rent them - most rivers and lakes have rentals available. The sun porch upstairs is loaded with art supplies. You can also just step right outside and cut your own flowers or pick your own fresh produce, depending on what’s in season. The electronic life at Elliston Farm includes: indoor/outdoor WiFi, internet, cable TV, extensive video and book library, xBox, and two computers, and portable speakers. The backyard is private and quiet and adjacent to conservation trails and a golf course. There are several public transportation options within a ten minute walk or bike ride - all areas of New England are an easy drive or train ride.
Ce que vos invités vont adorer dans votre quartier
We are located in the prime real estate area of MetroWest Boston - only a 15-20 minute commute from Boston, and easily accessible to the main highways to the north shore, south shore and Berkshires. Weston feels more rural than suburban because of the large zoning of 1.5+ acre house lots, and hundreds of acres of conservation land in Weston with over 75 miles of hiking trails, one of which is adjacent to our property!
Le mot de la fin
Some out-of-the-ordinary things to be aware of: the kitchen has a shared stove with Suzanne's apartment, although it is not often used. The back yard is 3+ acres and adjacent to conservation land and trails, and very private. You can walk for three miles uninterrupted from the backdoor to adjacent conservation trails and back. The front of the house faces a busy street. The feel of the property is rural but we are adjacent to both urban and suburban areas. The small mudroom is currently waiting to be renovated and not very "attractive" as it has plastic lining the ceiling. The house is antique, not chic, and the land is a small-scale working flower and vegetable farm. We have had chickens in the recent past, but not currently. There is a lot of wildlife that passes through our property (deer, coyote, owl, racoon, lots of songbirds, weasels, minks, etc)
