House is spacious, overlooks a small lake on a large elevated, private, open site, with views of surrounding countryside but only 3km from small town. In the heart of the beautiful friendly West of Ireland, (Castlebar town has 10,000 people). Ideally placed for sightseeing the West coast of Ireland.
Famous Croagh Patrick Pilgrim mountain can be seen from our sunroom/decking. The house is 430sq metres approx, 3 acre open site (no walls around site so maybe not good for young children), 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 5 en-suite, separate dining room (seats 10), large well equipped kitchen with second dining table (seats 8), Large sunny sunroom (overlooks lake/countryside) with solid fuel stove, A lounge with fireplace and 42" TV. A kids separate T.V. room, computer/laptops with free wifi, gas barbecue, patio/decking area, 4 bikes. On the third floor we have a small gym (which we dont use much!). We may be able to offer a car for a one week stay in our home (on request).

Our teenage kids kayak in the lake in front of the house (3 kayaks & 7 life jackets & selection of wet-suits available). Cinema, bowling, swimming pool, restaurants, hospital, shops, traditional pubs in our local town.
Mayo offers the best golf courses in Ireland and a wealth of archaeological sites. It has many visitor attractions including Ashford Castle, Ceide Fields, Westport House, Museum of County Life, Foxford Woollen Mills, Delphi resort and spa, Lough Corrib cruises, Alantic Drive and a day trips to Clare Island.
Beautiful 1st Class blue flag beaches are dotted along the coast to include Achill Island, Clew Bay and Old Head. Mayo offers many activities from a short stroll along a country lane to a hike up the famous mountain of Croagh Patrick.
Country Life Museum is 2km. Pretty Pontoon lakes (12 mins), Westport with beautiful beaches & excellent restaurants 30mins. Westport beaches 30 mins, Enniscrone beach 30 mins, Achill Island stunning beaches 50 mins, Sligo City 1 hr, Ballintubber Abbey 15km. Knock Holy Shrine (world renowned) 30mins. Ceide Fields (pre-historic settlement) 1hr. Horse-riding 1km.
Recommended to vist the city of Galway (1hour), very young vibrant city with old town, harbour and sea, great for foodies and shopping.
As our beaches are on the atlantic ocean they boast excellent surfing. Our nearest surf beach is 30 minutes.
Our closest airports are Knock Ireland West Airport (35 mins). Shannon airport 2 hours, Dublin airport (3hrs). Dublin has a direct train link to Castlebar.
Loads of world class Golf courses & links - 6 courses all within an hours drive. Castlebar has its own course. Top championship courses 40min drive.
Lots of beautiful walks in the region. Castlebar is famous for its 'Castlebar Walking festival'.
Fishing/angling with famous River Moy, Easkey river, Lough (lake) Mask / Lough Conn / Lough Arrow, Lough Cullen and sea angling from Westport/Clew Bay.
Two parents, with 16yrs and 18yr old (all non smoking) + our 21yr old son. Not all our children travel with us as two of them are in college. We are use to travelling and will take excellent care of your home. We have completed three very successful exchanges.
